Things will begin to look a little different around one of the busiest intersections in the Lowcountry.
Over the weekend and in coming weeks a lot more orange barrels will be seen in the westbound lanes of Highway 52. It’s a big part of the pre-construction efforts to help traffic move more smoothly at the intersection in Goose Creek.
SCDOT officials say 3-miles of one west bound lane on Highway 52 will be closed in order take out large sections of raised median. Eventually more lanes will be added to Highway 176 and 52 and barriers will be put up on Redbank Road.
Officials say an estimated 40,000 vehicles pass through that intersection daily. Once the construction is in full swing, it will take about a year to complete.
