Steven Tyler does cell phone message for NC woman on 'Tonight Show'

Posted: Updated:
NEW YORK -

A North Carolina woman was in for a big surprise on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon on Thursday.

With rock star Steven Tyler as a guest, Fallon said he would draw a random member of the audience and have Tyler sing their greeting on their cell phone.

Fallon pulled seat 107, which was Mary from Winston-Salem, N.C.

“Welcome, North Carolina! We love North Carolina!” Fallon said when she came up on stage, a bit startled to be standing next to Fallon and Tyler.

Sure enough, Tyler crooned into her phone, urging Mary’s callers to be sure to leave a message because Mary didn’t want to miss their calls.

The Tonight Show runs every night on WNCN and the show, with Fallon as host after a long run by Jay Leno, has been a major ratings success.
