CHARLESTON, SC - Since September 11, 2001 there has been a sharp increase in pain medications prescribed to veterans.  At the Ralph H. Johnson VA Medical Center, the increase from 2001 to 2012 are as follows:
  • Oxycodone: 9.76% increase
  • Morphine: 150.87% increase
  • Methadone: 1,309.15% increase 
  • Hydrocodone: 870.35% increase
