DA calls Onslow Sheriff "unprofessional" with bomb threat allegations

Posted: Updated:
JACKSONVILLE, N.C. - The District Attorney said there is no evidence to show Onslow County Sheriff candidate, Hans Miller, had anything to do with recent bomb threats, and the DA called current Sheriff, Ed Brown, "unprofessional" for making the allegations.

Earlier this month, Sheriff Ed Brown said he had received information Hans Miller was somehow connected to bomb threats called in to schools and businesses.

District Attorney Ernie Lee said hours of investigation revealed neither Miller nor anyone on his staff were involved with any of the threats.

Regarding Sheriff Brown's allegations, Lee said, "I do not condone the actions or words of Sheriff Brown during his phone call to Hans Miller on April 11, 2014. I find those actions and words to be unprofessional and to reflect unfavorably upon Sheriff Brown."

However, Lee also said Sheriff Brown did not break any election laws in the process.

Sheriff Brown and Hans Miller are both Republicans. They will face each other in the primary on May 6.
