Drug take back

Posted: Updated:
Charleston Police Department is asking for your help getting prescription drugs off of the streets and out of the landfill by bringing them to Citadel Mall Saturday from 10 a.m.. to 2 p.m.
The prescription drug take back is an effort to keep drugs out of the water supply or land-fill, and won't be abused by addicts who may steal them from medicine cabinets.

Last Fall, CPD collected nearly 100 lbs of these medicines. That is nearly 50 Kilos in drug terms.

Pull out all expired medicines and any you no longer need. They accept prescriptions left over from cancer treatments, a deceased relative, pain medicine from an old injury, old Tylenol or aspirin but no liquids or needles. Don't forget to empty all places that you might be keeping them: medicine cabinets, drawers, purse, glove-box, etc.

Drop them in a bin anonymously, no questions asked. At 2pm, Drug Enforcement Agents will collect them to be safely destroyed.

Locations for dropoff TODAY 10-2:
CPD Lobby (180 Lockwood Blvd)
Citadel Mall Parking Lot (2070 Sam Rittenberg) Near JCPenney's
