Having a baby changes everything

Posted: Updated:
A baby changes everything. From sleep patterns to how you travel and the order in your house. Your life, surroundings and relationships will never be the same again. It may seem chaotic at times but you form bonds unlike any other.

About 11,000 babies are born every day in the United States. In South Carolina alone, nearly 60,000 babies are born every year. And as the saying goes, babies are always more trouble than you thought and more wonderful.

"Definitely our relationship, with the husband and wife. It definitely changed. we never argued until we had kids," says Tracy Lamparelli of how things changed in her life after her first child. Tracy is a mother of two.

"It ain't all about you any more. Everything you do, all that you used to do, you gotta put it back and start focus on him really," says James Conyers of how his focus changed after he became a dad to his three year old son.

"I would definitely say, personal time. That's probably the biggest thing is just finding the time to do the things that are just solely for you or solely for your spouse and yourself," says Catherine Louis of the changes in her life after her daughter arrived.

One of the biggest ways a baby will impact your life is by making your wallet a little lighter.

"If you ain't ready to have kids yet, don't even rush that because it is expensive," advises James.

The latest statistics say raising a child from the beginning of a pregnancy to the age of 18 will cost you about $240,000. A
nd that doesn't even include college. The expensive things can sometimes be a surprise.

"
With formula, it was a bigger cost than I thought. It definitely helps if you have coupons or know where to shop or have some friends to help you out," says Tracy.

"Child care. Especially if you're pretty particular about what type of child care you have, that can be a hefty expense," says Catherine.

But in the end, being a parent pays you back.

"I wanna say, it's wonderful. Even with losing some of that personal time, it's worth it," says Catherine of why being a mom is well worth the trouble.
