Missing Family Rescued In Congaree National Park

CONGAREE NATIONAL PARK, S.C. -

Searchers have located the missing family in Congaree National Park. They are safe and in good condition, according to officials.

The National Park Service Rangers and SAR partners safely rescued J.R. Kimbler, his son, and his daughter according to a release by the National Park Service Tuesday. .

Saturday, Kimbler took his 6-year-old daughter and 10-year-old son for a hike. According to family, it was suppose to be a quick hike because Kimbler left his daughter's medicine and his cigarettes behind. Saturday night Kimbler sent a text message to a friend saying he was lost.

For two days searchers scoured the 27,000 acres of the park east of Columbia. They searched by airplane, boat, and on foot.

Kimbler and his children are in stable condition and were transported by ambulance to the local hospital.
