Carteret county sisters arrested for pill diversion

Deputies in Carteret county arrest two sisters in connection with pill diversion at a Beaufort pharmacy.  28-year-old Meredith Traister and 29-year-old Laura Macdonald are in the Carteret County Jail with a combined bail of $10,000.

Deputies say the women pretended to be prescribers of medication and called in several false controlled substance prescriptions for each other.  Both are charged with obtaining controlled substance by fraud/forgery and attempting to obtain controlled substances by fraud/forgery.  Deputies say more charges are pending as the investigation is still active.  Both women make their first court appearance May 1st.
