The finishing touches have just been completed on the Onslow County Vietnam Veterans Memorial, a project that has been in the works for about 15 years.

Board members for the project say they are very pleased with how it's turning out.

Those who worked on the project say bringing this memorial to a city so rich in military history, means a lot.

"At one time or another, they came through Camp Lejeune either to get a ride, get gear, whatever, but they came through here,” said Pat Walker, memorial board member. “So, what better place than a military town with 9,000 veterans and a lot of them Vietnam Veterans to put a memorial?"

The Vietnam memorial will be re-dedicated during a ceremony on May 31st at 10 a.m.
