President Barack Obama will release the third annual National Climate assessment in the day ahead. A draft of the report includes a sobering forecast about how climate and weather conditions may change in the United States. The president is expected to outline what the White House is doing to address global climate change.

The Senate plans to bring two bills to the floor regarding the Keystone Pipeline. One is a bipartisan bill in favor of building it as part of a larger energy compromise. The other only considers the issue of whether or not to build the pipeline. No final decision on either piece of legislation is expected today.

The Smith Mountain Lake Chamber of Commerce will host a business roundtable today from 11:30 to 1:30 at Jake's Place. The meeting will focus on several key issues including the lake's economy...business marketing...and how businesses can work together.

The Skeleton 4-H Education Center in Wirtz will have an open house today to help celebrate the 100th anniversary of the Virginia Cooperative Extension and the 50th anniversary of the center. More than 12 million dollars has been spent on renovating the center over the last decade. The open house is from 4 to 7 p.m..
