Voters in the Star City are electing three open seats.

The crowded field of candidates includes incumbents Dave Trinkle, Ray Ferris and Bill Bestpitch.

Other parts of southwest and central Virginia will also have elections today.

Voters in Salem, Lynchburg, Radford, Danville, Galax, Vinton, Buchanan, Hillsville, New Castle, Boones Mill, Rocky Mount, Troutdale, Fries, Independence, Dublin, South Boston, Wytheville and Rural Retreat will elect candidates to serve on city and town councils.
