Voter turnout for three Roanoke City Council seats were low, said city officials. As of 3 p.m. on Election Day, nearly 8% of eligible residents voted.

The May election includes 10 candidates, three incumbents and 7 challengers.

During the race, incumbents Bill Bestpitch, Ray Ferris and David Trinkle touted their ability to work together to make positive changes in Roanoke.

However, several challengers argued that changes in leadership are needed to help the city grow in the future.
