Woman found dead in Durham Wednesday morning identified

DURHAM, N.C. -

Durham police have identified the woman whose body was found Wednesday morning near the American Tobacco Trail.

Police are investigating the death of Shontina Nakeisha Williams, 37, of Durham, as a homicide.

Officers were dispatched to Elmira Avenue, near Rocky Creek Trail early Wednesday. A passerby called police after finding the body on the trail at 6:15 a.m. Investigators are still trying to determine the circumstances surrounding the death.
