University commencement address is truly out of this world

Posted: Updated:
CONNECTICUT - While most colleges and universities have a special commencement speaker this time every year one school booked an out of this world guest.

University of Connecticut alumnus Rick Mastracchio would have liked to deliver this year's graduation address to the School of Engineering in person, but he was a little busy orbiting the globe on the International Space Station.

So the school arranged for the 54-yr.-old astronaut to give the speech from Space.  His recorded address was shown on the video boards at Gampel Pavilion to about 5,000 people

Mastracchio is wrapping up his fourth trip into Space.  He will return to Earth on May 13th.
