New Details: One killed, one injured in Craven County crash

One man is dead following a head-on collision in Craven County Monday night.

The Highway Patrol tells 9 On Your Side 20-yr.-old Quanshae Gardner of New Bern was driving his Toyota sedan southbound on Hwy 43 around 8:45 p.m. when he crossed the center line and collided with 51-year-old Teresa Coltrain's Ford passenger car.  

Gardner's car went off the right side of the road and overturned.  He was pronounced dead at the scene.

EMS transported Coltrain to Carolina East Medical Center.  She was treated and released with non-life threatening injuries. 

Volunteer firefighters on the scene Monday night told 9 On Your Side Hwy 55 was closed between Ipock and Stevenson roads until after 11 p.m. while crews cleared the wreckage.
