Arrest made in possible gang-related shooting

Posted: Updated:
GREENVILLE, N.C. - Greenville Police arrested a woman in a Tuesday night shooting.

Police received a report of shots fired near Summer Place Apartments and Peed Drive shortly after 7:30 Tuesday night.

The Greenville Police Department Tactical Anti-Crime (TAC) unit was already in the area patrolling when the call came out.

The TAC immediately stopped a suspect vehicle and multiple people were taken into custody. A gun and ammunition were found inside the vehicle.

No one was injured in the shooting, and several known gang members were in the area at the time shots were fired.

Police say after further investigation and conducting several interviews, detectives determined Alexis Pollard, 19, fired a handgun at another person after a fight and tried to hide the gun in her vehicle.

Pollard was charged with carrying a concealed weapon, assault with a deadly weapon, and discharging a firearm within city limits. The investigation into the shooting is ongoing.

Police say the TAC was recently created in 2014 as part of a department-wide organization. The unit was formed to address violent crime hot spots and support the Greenville Police Department’s gang unit.
