DURHAM, N.C. -

Durham authorities said around 25 people were displaced Friday afternoon by an apartment fire.

The fire was called in around 1:30 p.m. at the Spring Ridge Apartments, the Durham Fire Department confirmed. Upon arrival, fire and smoke were coming from the roof of a unit, the department said.

A damaged fire hydrant caused a delay in firefighters bringing the situation under control. The fire department said the fire was under control in under 30 minutes.

The roof of one unit was heavily damaged and two other units were destroyed, the fire department said.

The fire department said a total of 48 firefighters responded to the call.

No one was injured in the incident.

The fire department did not release the cause of the fire but said it started in a utility room behind one of the townhomes.
