Man convicted in Beaufort CVS robbery

BEAUFORT, N.C. - A Chocowinity man was convicted of common law robbery at a CVS store in Beaufort.

District Attorney Scott Thomas says Jeffrey Hunnings, 34, was convicted of robbing the store in Beaufort on December 13, 2013 and of trafficking in opium by possession of 350 Oxycodone pills that were stolen during the robbery.

Hunnings told CVS employees he had a gun, did not. Hunnings was arrested after he tried to resist a Beaufort Police Officer and ran from the store.

Hunnings was sent to prison for a minimum of 70 months and a maximum of 84 months. He is also facing charges in Pitt County for a similar robbery.
