Cupcake shop hit by car gets new storefront, windows

MOREHEAD CITY, N.C. - Happycakes Cupcakery in Morehead City gets a new storefront and windows.
    
On May 22nd, a 74-year-old woman accidentally rammed her car into the store.
    
There were several customers and employees inside at the time. Five people were injured, including a 3-year-old.
    
The store plans to re-open in July.

Police say five people were injured Thursday afternoon when a car crashed into the Happycakes Cupcakery in Morehead City.

It happened around 2:45 p.m. The cupcake shop is located at 278 Highway 24.

Police tell us Hazel Mucken, 74, from Milwaukee, Oregon was driving a Nissan Rogue when she crashed through the front stopping at the front of counter. She was charged with careless and reckless driving and unsafe movement.

There were several customers and employees inside at the time. Four people were transported to Carteret General Hospital, including a 3 year old child. One of the adults injured is now at Vidant Medical Center in Greenville with severe injuries.

The business suffered major damage. The owners of Happycakes Cupcakery won an episode of the Food Network's show "Cupcake Wars".

According to Happycake's Facebook page, they are closed indefinitely.
