SURF CITY, N.C. - Visitors to our coast can tour the new Karen Beasley Sea Turtle Hospital in Surf City starting Thursday.

The old facility was in Topsail Beach. The new one is off NC 50, less than a mile from Surf City’s swing bridge.

The 13,000 square foot facility accommodates more patients and visitors. More than 30 turtles are receiving care there.

Tours start Thursday and run from noon to 4 p.m. each day, except Wednesdays and Sundays. Tours are $3 for children, $4 for military and seniors and $5 for adults. That money helps with the cost of operations, much of which is done by unpaid interns and volunteers.
