Augusta, GA - Construction on Old Petersburg Road and Old Evans Road stretch from Baston Road to Washington Road. The Expansion project is set in place to widen the roads to four lanes, which would help people on their daily commute. When completed the project will include, medians, a sidewalk and a bike lane.

Residents who live on Old Petersburg Road say the construction has been a nightmare for them. Chris Jones lives roughly 20-feet from the road, leaving him about 10-feet from the constant construction.

"They’ve been taking out all the trees by the road, and brought in all the excavators right up next to our house, and tearing out trees next to the house. We’ve had some issues with the foundation cracking and stuff like that too," Chris said.

Chris and his family have lived in the same house on Old Petersburg Road for over 16 years. He says when he was warned about the construction, he had no idea how bad it would be.

"They said they was supposed to have a seismograph truck out here, but it was never out here," Chris said.

Chris says the construction has been handled very poorly and he feels they have been extremely careless.

The 34.2$ million dollar project isn't expected to be finished until 2017. That money comes from the T-SPLOST project funds, voters agreed on.
