Aiken County, S.C. - It's hours before Primary Election Day in South Carolina and voters are ready to cast their ballots.

"I am ready to cast my vote," said voter Crystal Wimberly.

"I've been seeing the ads, the materials that have been coming in the mail," said voter Peggy Elliott.

"I've got my guys picked out and ladies, and looking forward to hopefully a good outcome," said voter Randy Walcott.

Those voters may not have to wait in line at the polls. Voter turnout is expected to be a low ten percent.

"It's been slow this year," said Cynthia Holland, of the Aiken County Board of Registrations and Elections.

Holland says the low voter expectation comes from lower absentee voting. "We've had maybe 1,300 at the most and we're normally closer to the 2,000, 3,000 for a primary."

Despite that, Holland is making sure clerks and poll managers are ready.

Deon Guillory, reporting: "One thing that's new this election are laptops like this one. The county now owns them instead of renting them out, which will save taxpayers at least $5,000 per election."

"But, we're hoping for a surprise. We are hoping the voters will come out," Holland said.

It is something voters we talked to are hoping for, too.

"If we don't take responsibility for it, then other people are going to make those decisions for us," Elliott said.

"If we don't vote and get some of these officials out that have been making erroneous errors since they have been there, things will never improve in our own community," Wimberly added.
