Man accused of stabbing woman in Johnson City

JOHNSON CITY, TN (WJHL) - A woman is critical condition tonight after being stabbed at a home in Johnson city.

Around 7 p.m. Monday, police went to a home in the 100 block of Whitney Street.

Officers aid they found Josephine Carter, 45, with a single stab wound to the chest.  

Carter was rushed to a local hospital for treatment.

Police said witness descriptions led them to a the suspect, Arthur A. Bass, 54, who was found walking near the intersection of Boone and W. Main Streets.  

Police charged Bass with Aggravated Assault.

He's in jail on $50,000 bond.
