KINSTON, N.C. -  A two car accident sends on man to the hospital.

The Kinston Department of Public Safety responded to a two car accident at 11:47 a.m. on Monday.

Police say a man driving a white sedan ran a stop sign and was hit by a SUV at the intersection of Chestnut and Trainon Streets. The impact of the accident pushed the sedan into a utility pole. Emergency crews did have to use a hydraulic cutter to get the driver out of the sedan since he was pinned in.

The driver of the sedan was transported to the hospital; however, he was alert and talking.

The people in the SUV were not injured.

Police say the driver of the sedan will likely face charges for failing to stop at stop sign.
