Lenoir County Deputies investigating armed robbery of LaGrange store

Posted: Updated:
Deputies in Lenoir County are investigating an armed robbery.

They tell us on June 14, 2014 around 10:41 p.m., two armed black males entered the BP Hasty Mart on US 70 west near LaGrange.  Once inside, one of the black males held a small caliber handgun to the clerk and ordered him to place all of the money into a paper bag.  The other robber was also armed with a handgun and held it on a patron of the store while the store was being robbed.

The robbers, who were reportedly in their 30's, wearing blue and white bandannas and hoodies, ran from the store. Another witness at the gas pumps of the store observed the robbers run behind the store toward the Jim Sutton road area.

Deputies tell us they arrived a few minutes later and a search was conducted.  A K9 officer from Kinston arrived and it was determined that the robbers most likely got into a vehicle that was parked near Jim Sutton road.

No one was injured in the robbery.  If anyone has any relevant information about this robbery, they are asked to call the Lenoir Co. Sheriff’s Office at 252-559-6140 or by using ETIPS via the LCSO website.

“The last time we experienced a store armed robbery was during Christmas.  It has been relatively quiet in the County over the past several months,” said Sheriff Chris Hill. “I can only hope this is not the beginning of what we experienced late last year.”
