1 arrested, 3 others charged in Fayetteville shooting, attempted robbery

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. -

Fayetteville Police have charged three people in connection with an aggravated assault and attempted robbery that took on S. Reilly Road on July 9.

On Wednesday, July 9, Gregorio Atiles was walking home when he was approached by several suspects. One of the suspects was armed with a shotgun. Police said the suspect tried to rob Atiles, who was then shot. The suspects were seen fleeing the scene in a burgundy-colored, four-door sedan.

On Saturday, July 12 around 12:30 a.m., officers received information from concerned citizens which led them to 6912 Kizer Drive the Southgate subdivision, the same subdivision where 19-year-old Ravon Jordan was shot and killed.

As officers conducted a surveillance of the home, a burgundy-colored vehicle returned to the home. Officers approached the subjects and conducted an investigation. Officers recovered a shot gun and pistol which were hidden behind the home.

Officers arrested and charged Dominique Dewayne Freddie, 21, with attempted first-degree murder, assault with a deadly weapon, attempted robbery, conspiracy to commit robber and contributing to the delinquency of a juvenile.

Freddie was processed at the Cumberland County Detention Center, where he remains under a $205,000 secured bond.

Police have also charged Jaytez Anthony James, 21, and Darelle LeMont Cozart, 17, with conspiracy to commit robbery and contributing to the delinquency of a juvenile.

The fourth suspect, who is identified as a juvenile, will be petitioned for conspiracy to commit robbery.

James and Cozart are not currently in custody. Anyone with information about their whereabouts is asked to call Detective J. Pacurari with the Fayetteville Police Department at (910) 433-1856 or Crimestoppers at (910) 483-TIPS (8477).
