GREENVILLE, N.C. - A police K-9 Unit assisted on a case Saturday night in Greenville.

Greenville Police say Officer Neague and K-9 Chesty were conducting a proactive foot patrol in the area of 3rd and Nash Street.

K-9 Chesty alerted to the presence of narcotics near a carport behind a house on the 200 block of Nash Street.  Police say an Officer responded to the scene, stood on top of his patrol car and found a loaded .32 caliber semi-automatic pistol on top of the car port.

Greenville Police say the pistol was seven and a half feet in the air, and the K-9 was still able to alert on it.

A small amount of marijuana and digital scales were also found in the gutter area, near where the gun was found.
