JACKSONVILLE, N.C. - Deputies have arrested a homeless man in connection to a Jacksonville kidnapping.
It happened Saturday just before 2 a.m. at a motel off NC 24 and Western Boulevard.

The victim told authorities that when she returned to her pickup truck after using the restroom and dropping friends off at the motel, she found a man in the passenger seat. He pointed a handgun at her and demanded she take him to the Circle K on Highway 17 at the Marine Corps Air Station. He fled the scene after she complied with his wishes.

Deputies caught up with 29-year-old Garrick Cale-Leighton Freitas about three hours later and arrested him. He’s charged with Second Degree Kidnapping and Assault by Pointing a gun.
He was placed in jail under a 40,000 bond.
