ROANOKE (WSLS) - The unsolved murder case of a woman found dead over 30 years ago is getting another look by Roanoke City Police.

They say June West's body was found at St. Andrew's Cemetery in 1981. Investigations show she was strangled and stabbed to death.

She left behind a five-year-old daughter named Jennifer who, today, still doesn't know who killed her mother.

"Its come down to me to do this and it's very hard," says Jennifer West. "Cause every time I do it brings back all the memories."

One of the main suspects in the case is June's ex-husband, which is Jennifer's father. Now, with better technology, cold case investigator Det. Robin Young, is re-submitting DNA samples to the state lab.

"Now DNA testing is outstanding," says Detective Young. "You can go down tot he specific DNA that person has."

Each suspect in the case, including the ex-husband, Robert West Jr., are now dead, but Detective Young says giving closure to Jennifer is one of the reasons they decided to take a second look at the case.

"33 years later, she wants to know did her father in fact kill her mother or was it someone else," says Detective Young.
