With about three months until the general election, State Senator Chris McDaniel's campaign has confirmed they will be challenging the June 24th Runoff Election today.
The formal announcement will be made at a press conference this afternoon.
It will start at 2:30 p.m. at the offices of McDaniel's lead attorney, Mitch Tyner. The offices are located on I-55 Frontage Road in Jackson. His campaign says they will file the challenge with the GOP Executive Committee after the press conference.
Last month, the battle was taken to federal court. A Texas based voter organization, "True the Vote," filed a lawsuit so it could access voter records in nine Mississippi counties. Attorneys and witnesses for both sides attempted to clarity what information was requested and why.
In the meantime, Senator Cochran and Democrat Senate nominee Travis Childers attended the Neshoba County Fair last Thursday. There, they started campaigning for the general election that's set for November 4th, 2014.
News Channel 12 will stream the news conference live at WJTV.com.
