COLUMBUS, Ohio - Arson investigators were called to a west Columbus apartment following a fire early Monday morning.

Columbus firefighters were called to an apartment located in the 200 block of Dakota Avenue near West Rich Street on a report of a fire at about 4:31 a.m.

According to dispatchers, a caller reported seeing someone in a silver car throw a fire bomb at the home.

Arriving firefighters found the residence engulfed in flames.

Residents on both sides of the apartment ran out of their homes as the flames spread to the upper floors and neighboring units.

The fire was contained, and arson investigators were called to the scene.

Columbus police officers are searching for the people who were in the vehicle.

Investigators said the woman who lived in the apartment was not home at the time of the fire, as she was in the process of moving out.

There were no injuries, and a dog was rescued from the home.
