Man Pleads Guilty To Assault Of Teen; Will Not Register As Sex Offender

SPARTANBURG, S.C. -

Nathan Fredrick Ottesen pleaded guilty to first-degree assault and battery Monday for an incident in June that led to a charge of second-degree criminal sexual conduct with a minor. 

Ottesen sentence is not to exceed four years under the Youthful Offender Act and will be suspended to two years probation and time served in jail. He is also order to have no contact with victim, submit to random drug tests and complete 60 hours of public service. 

Murray Glenn of the 7th Circuit Solicitor's Office confirms to 7 On Your Side that the victims father reported the assault to deputies on June 18th. 

The father said he had read text message sent to his daughter by Ottesen and later confronted him. Ottesen was apologetic and told the father that he thought she was 16 and had consensual sex. 

Ottesen will not be required to register as a sex offender as part of the plea agreement.
