Brewton, AL - Former T.R. Miller band teacher Jeffrey Lance Gainous told News 5 he misses and wife and kids following his arrest involving multiple sex charges centered around the teacher's former students.

Gainous made the statement outside the Escambia County Courthouse Monday afternoon before a bond hearing.

Gainous also apologized to his family.

"I love my wife and kids and I'm sorry about all this attention."

On Monday, a judge raised Gainous' bond from $350,000 to $750,000 after Brewton police filed 11 additional charges against the former teacher.

Many of the charges are felonies and include sex abuse, a school employee engaging in a sex act with a student and unlawful imprisonment.  Gainous is accused of using ropes and gagging devices during sexual acts with students inside the band room and at his house while his wife and two children weren't at home.

Gainous is also accused of slapping at least one student for sexual gratification and leaving notes in girls purses asking them to have sex with him.

If Gainous posts bail, he cannot have contact with his eight alleged victims or their families or with any other children other than his two kids.

Gainous left the Brewton city school system in June and took a teaching job in Georgia. He resigned immediately after he was arrested.
