Alert Issued For Robbery Near USC Campus

COLUMBA, S.C. - University of South Carolina Police are investigating an armed robbery near campus Tuesday morning. 

It's the second time Carolina Alerts has indicated a threat for the campus in the last three days.

Police say Tuesday's robbery happened around 3:30 a.m. at the intersection of Main and Whaley. The victim was approached by a man dressed in all black armed with a bat demanding money.

The victim was assaulted and was being treated by medical personnel. Columbia Police are assisting with the investigation.

Carolina Alerts reported an armed man was seen near the area of the Russell House running toward Thomas Cooper Library on Sunday. Police searched the area, but found no sign of the man.
