Super Heroes pack care packages for soldiers

Posted: Updated:
Fort Bragg based group ‘Heroes For Kids' came to Ayden Tuesday on mission to help fellow soldiers overseas.

Captain America, Princess Jasmine, and Tinkerbell were packing care packages in Ayden this morning. They are from “Heroes for Kids” a Fayetteville based group that serves military families by providing Super Hero characters for events on and around Fort Bragg. Today the group had a different mission.

Their mission in Ayden was focused on helping fellow soldiers. The group came to town in full costume to pack necessities and resources for soldiers serving overseas. The Ayden based non-profit NCPacks4Patriots hosted the soldiers. The non-profit says they hope to help the public remember all of the soldiers still serving overseas.

Michael Raymond of the 'Heroes for Kids' organization deployed to Afghanistan as a specialist in the Army. He told us that care packages he received in the field were essential to his everyday life. “Shaving cream and razors were really big. Including toothpaste and tooth brushes as well. Because over there it is really really dirty and the dust gets everywhere. Half the time you don't want to use the stuff out there” said Specialist Raymond.

NCPacks4Patriots says the need for help is year round. They have already scheduled their workdays to pack Christmas Stockings for troops.
