McCrory touts benefits of $5B natural gas pipeline

Posted: Updated:
WILSON, N.C. - Governor McCrory made a couple of stops Tuesday, including one in the east, discussing a potential gas pipeline.

In Wilson, the governor announced a proposed 550 mile natural gas pipeline that he says will bring hundreds of jobs and millions of dollars to the state's economy.
The Atlantic Coast Pipeline will be a $4 and a half billion effort between 4 different energy companies, including Duke Energy.
This interstate pipeline would be the state's 2nd and should accelerate the transition from coal-burning plants to natural gas in the state.

The proposed pipeline is designed to start in West Virginia and travel through Virginia and 8 counties in our state, including Nash and Wilson.
The earliest the pipeline could start transmitting gas is late in 2018.
