WNCT 9 On Your Side welcomes First Alert Meteorologist Alex Wasilenko to the team. Alex is excited to be joining WNCT9’s Morning Edition!
First Alert Meteorologist Alex Wasilenko was born in northern New York and raised in the beautiful southern Green Mountains of Vermont. Alex graduated from Lyndon State College in the Northeast Kingdom of Vermont with a bachelors degree in atmospheric science. At Lyndon State, he concentrated on applying his love for weather into fields like journalism and private industry before finding love for broadcast. Keeping people informed before, during, and even after dangerous weather situations is Alex’s strong suit.
Alex began his career by forecasting live for his local radio station in Bennington, VT; WBTN 1370 AM. He also put his private industry schooling to use by remotely forecasting from his couch for a company called LGWeather in Baker Valley, Oregon. Alex’s most recent stop was at a shop in cold and snowy La Crosse, Wisconsin. In his last thirty days in Wisconsin, Alex kept viewers informed through six winter storms, over four feet of snow in four weeks, and -50°F to -60° wind chills.
Alex is looking forward to the warmer temps across the east. Outside of work, he likes to hike, explore new restaurants, storm chase, and just relax with his cat, Donna. Alex is always looking for new places to eat, areas to explore, and even looking for those awesome weather photos. Contact First Alert Meteorologist by email at firstname.lastname@example.org.
