Hello Eastern North Carolina! Max is from Chicago and went to the University of Illinois where he studied environmental science and atmospheric science.
He was a dedicated storm chaser in college and traveled the country chasing the world’s most violent weather. He has seen five tornadoes and gained over 100,000 Tik Tok followers along the way (Mad Max Claypool is my handle).
Before arriving at WNCT, he was on air for WOAY in Oak Hill, WVa. and interned with WCIA3 and CNN. He wrote more than two dozen weather-related stories with bylines for CNN as an intern.
Max’s hobbies include basketball, golf and fishing. He says he’s decent at basketball and terrible at golf. He’s good at fishing but terrible at catching fish.
