2 arrested on drug, firearm charges after gun complaint in New Bern

Two men have been arrested on drug and firearm charges after police responded to a gun complaint reported at a residence in New Bern on Monday.

Devayron M. Stib, 19, of Illinois, was charged with trafficking in cocaine, possession with intent to manufacture, sell and deliver schedule II, possession of cocaine and maintaining a vehicle or dwelling for controlled substances.

Najeir Hardesty, 18, of New Bern, was charged with robbery with a dangerous weapon, conspiracy to commit robbery with a dangerous weapon and possession with intent to manufacture, sell and deliver schedule II.

The New Bern Police Department responded to the 1600 block of Cobb Street in reference to a suspect with a gun complaint at a residence on Monday around 4:57 p.m.

The investigation led police to Stib’s arrest.

Police said they later found Hardesty, who was wanted for an outstanding warrant.

Stib was given a $250,000 bond and Hardesty a $100,000 bond.
