Hurricane season is next month and the national weather service wants to make sure you have a plan.
Today starts hurricane preparedness week in North Carolina.
Some things to keep in mind —- gather information – keep a list of contacts — like, emergency management, Red Cross, and the local hospitals.
Always keep a basic disaster supply kit.
And know about other resources like FEMA.
9 On Your Side caught up with one woman who lives in New Bern. She says she wasn’t ready last year but will be ready for hurricane season this year.
“I was not, we didn’t have any food there was like no time to get prepared cause we really didn’t think it was going to hit as hard as it did,” Said Haley Tetterton
Then when asked will she be ready this year…
“Most definitely be more prepared with food and just more supplies, “said Tetterton.
