9-Year-Old Greenville students quick actions save Grandfathers life

Greenville Fire-Rescue held a special ceremony for a heroic third grade student at Third Street Academy.

Last month, 9-year-old Bryan Ward went to Boone with his grandfather to work on roof repairs.

That’s when Byran’s Grandfather fell from the roof and was knocked unconscious.

Bryan didn’t hesitate to call 911, which saved his Grandfather’s life.

“After I was in the hospital 3 days prior to coming home, they looked at me and said were going to be honest with you you’re very lucky to be walking out, the first three days you were very critical, we didn’t know if you were going to make it or not,” said Grandfather Donald Mozingo.

Mozingo suffered from multiple broken bones.

Bryan’s quick thinking also alerted nearby neighbors who helped first responders.

He says he wants to be a first responder when he grows up.
