In eastern Carolina everyone is trying to stay cool on the first day of summer, and that means proper air conditioner maintenance.
At Advanced Mechanical of Greenville, service manager Mark Porter offered some tips for keeping air conditioners running through the summer months.
“If that filter is stopped up, its restricting air flow and could lead to very costly repairs,” said Porter. “…And what will happen is you keep hitting that thermostat, but it doesn’t change anything its actually making it worse.”
The manager said 73 to 74 degrees are good temperature settings for your thermostat.
Any lower may overwork the unit and cause it to break.
