Adults with special needs in Greenville got together for a free culinary camp Wednesday.
Local artist Lisa Jordan opens her home to those with different abilities for these camps throughout summer.
They spent the morning baking an apple dessert and cooking pizza.
Jordan created this program once she realized the lack of opportunities in the area for those with different abilities, like her son.
She said it is important for people not to always help them, and let them do everyday tasks like cooking on their own.
“We forget we are actually stealing that moment away from them where they actually get to experience what it is like to pour and accidentally spill it and it’s okay,” Jordan said.
Other special needs classes include art, science and wood chopping.
She also teaches kids camps.
