Butterfield announces nearly $2,000,000 in postsecondary education grant funding for student support services in schools


WASHINGTON, D.C. (WNCT) Congressman G. K. Butterfield announced the awarding of $1,860,711 in grants to help low-income and first-generation college students and individuals with disabilities in North Carolina succeed.

Through a grant competition, funds for the Student Support Services Program (SSS) were awarded to institutions of higher education to provide opportunities for academic development, assist students with basic college requirements, and to motivate students toward the successful completion of their postsecondary education. 

Institutions of higher education use funds from the SSS Program to create a support system for students to help ensure they thrive, are able to stay in school, and graduate.
