Camp Lejeune is conducting a controlled burn after a wildfire started on one of its range.

According to their Facebook page, a wildfire originated from the G-10 impact area and spread into the adjacent ranges south of Lyman Road from Lucky’s Mound to the intersection with NC-172.

Fire and Emergency Services have started a controlled burn to prevent the wildfire from spreading and approximately 1,200 acres has burned, officials said.

Motorists should expect heavy smoke and limited visibility in the area.
