In New Bern, the Coastal Women’s Shelter is hosting their 21st annual ‘Run for Shelter’ event this weekend.
It is one of the shelter’s most important fundraisers of the year.
The 5K run raises awareness and money for those affected by domestic violence.
The race offers a 5K run, 10K run, and 1-mile fun run.
Registration costs $30.
All proceeds benefit the shelter’s mission.
“100% of our focus is helping families living with violence be able to address the crisis mode that they are in to provide resources and support to build futures that are free of violence,” said Tova Hairston, Executive Director of Coastal Women’s Shelter.
The run usually sees around 200 participants.
There is a discount for groups of more than five people.
