MOREHEAD CITY, N.C. (WNCT) — What was initially thought to be a burglary turned out to be an active fire early Friday.
Friday at 6:22 am, Morehead City Fire-EMS, Atlantic Beach Fire and Beaufort Fire Dept. responded to an active fire at the Carteret Clinic for Adolescents and Children. Morehead City arrived at the first alarm. Atlantic Beach and Beaufort assisted after the second alarm.
The fire was put out by 10 a.m. There were no reported injuries.
“This being a commercial property, it is a large structure, there was heavy fire involved,” said Morehead City Fire Chief Courtney Wade. “At this time, I’m not exactly sure the significance of the damage but we do know there is significant damage.”
A cause for the fire has not been identified. The business was closed on Friday and was looking for an alternate location.
