Deputies: Missing Manteo woman found dead, no evidence of foul play

A woman who was last seen on May 22 in the area of Duck, N.C., just north of Manteo on Roanoke Island, has been found dead, deputies said.

According to Major Jeff Deringer, Deana Cook, 49, of Manteo, has been found dead.

There is no evidence of foul play, deputies said.

Deputies are searching for a woman who was last seen in the area of Duck Thru just north of Manteo on Roanoke Island on Wednesday, according to The Coastland Times.

The Dare County Sheriff’s Office said that Deana Cook, 49, of Manteo, was last seen in that area around 11 a.m.

Cook arrived at the last known location on bicycle and deputies believe she then left on foot.

The news outlet reports that deputies along with seven K-9 teams have been searching for Cook.

Cook is described as a white female with brown, shoulder-length with highlights.

She was seen wearing an oversized slate gray-blue t-shirt.
