Elizabeth City searching for suspect in robbery that left man injured

Police are asking the public for any information that might identify a suspect in a violent robbery that left a man hospitalized Wednesday night in Elizabeth City.

Elizabeth City Police say the robbery happened at 9:37 p.m. Wednesday in the 400 block of West Broad Street.

Someone called 911 stating a black male victim had been robbed and was bleeding from his nose.

At the robbery scene, the victim told officers he was hit on the head with an unknown object and fell to the ground. That’s when a suspect, who the victim never saw, allegedly stole an undisclosed amount of money from the victim and ran away.

Police say the victim never saw the suspect and there is no description of his physical appearance or clothing at this time.

The victim was taken to Sentara Albemarle Hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.

Detectives are actively investigating this robbery and searching for a suspect.
