'NC Packs 4 Patriots'

On Tuesday, Local Girl Scouts delivered cookies to N.C. Packs for Patriots in Ayden.

It was part of the Coastal Pines Annual Operation Cookie Drop Program.

The project delivers a sweet taste of home to deployed military men and women.

Troops at Packs for Patriots said the care package from the Scouts is something they look forward to every year.

“The girl scouts are filling out greetings cards and writing little personal messages and those believe it or not other than the toiletries and snacks and things that we actually need down range it’s the little cards and the handwritten messages that mean the most so it’s really important it keeps our moral better than anything,” said Keith House, Staff Sergeant at the U.S. Army.

The Girl Scouts delivered nearly 100,000 boxes of cookies that will be shipped to soldiers along with a handwritten letter.
